As a child I had frequent bouts of dysbiosis, which mystified the series of doctors my parents took me to. Eventually I accepted it as simply the way I was put together. The epiphany came after I retired at 66. Exploring diets to end lifelong obesity, I eventually settled into an amalgam of Keto and Primal, focused on elimination of UPFs and minimal sugar. Now at 75 I am the healthiest I've ever been. The importance of the microbiome was brought home to me following a recent colonoscopy. The prep for that disrupted my microbiome and I am slowly rebuilding with fermented foods and healthy fiber. I was overjoyed to find this Substack and look forward to deepening my education of all the microorganisms that I'm carrying around.

I’m fascinated by the discoveries regarding the gut. I eat well, never junk food, exercise well in particular walking and Pilates, but was diagnosed with IBS years ago. I’m trying to deal with it without drug treatment which I have been given however have not quite succeeded as yet.
